Cookie Policy

Last Updated: 22 January 2026

At synaptena, we believe in being straightforward about the tools we use to run our website. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones we use, and how you can control them. We want you to feel comfortable browsing our site, so we have kept this explanation as plain as possible.

If anything here raises questions, please reach out at [email protected] and we will be happy to walk you through it.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device — whether a computer, phone, or tablet — when you visit. They serve a range of purposes: some help the site work properly, others let us understand how people use the site, and a few assist with showing relevant information to returning visitors.

Think of a cookie as a short note your browser keeps so the website can remember certain details about your visit. Without cookies, websites would treat every page load as if they had never seen you before.

Cookies do not give us access to your computer or any personal files. They simply store small pieces of data that help improve your experience on our site.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the website to function. They handle things like keeping the site secure, remembering your cookie consent choice, and enabling core page features. Without them, parts of the site simply would not work.

Examples: cookie consent preference storage, session identifiers, security tokens.

Can be disabled: No — these are always active.

Analytics Cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website. They collect information such as which pages are visited most often, how long people spend on each page, and whether any errors occur. All data collected is aggregated and anonymous — it does not identify you personally.

Examples: Google Analytics tracking cookies (_ga, _gid).

Can be disabled: Yes.

Marketing Cookies

Marketing cookies may be set by advertising partners through our site. These cookies build a profile of your interests and can be used to show you relevant advertisements on other websites. If you disable these cookies, you will still see advertisements, but they will be less tailored to your browsing activity.

Examples: Facebook Pixel, Google Ads conversion tracking, Bing UET tag.

Can be disabled: Yes.

Preference Cookies

Preference cookies allow our website to remember choices you have made in the past — such as your preferred language or region. They make your return visits smoother by recalling settings so you do not have to re-enter them each time.

Examples: language selection, display preferences, form pre-fill data.

Can be disabled: Yes.

3. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on our site are placed by services other than synaptena. These third parties provide tools that help us operate and improve our online presence. The third-party services we may use include:

Google Analytics — used to measure website traffic and understand usage patterns. Google's own privacy policy governs how this data is handled.

Google Ads — conversion tracking cookies that help us understand which campaigns bring visitors to our site.

Meta (Facebook) Pixel — helps us measure the effectiveness of our advertising and may be used for remarketing purposes.

Microsoft Bing UET — a tracking tag that helps us understand how people arrive at our site through Bing search results.

4. How Long Cookies Last

Cookies have different lifespans depending on their purpose:

Session cookies are temporary. They exist only while your browser is open and are deleted automatically once you close it. These are typically used for things like maintaining security while you browse.

Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period — anywhere from a few days to two years, depending on the cookie. For instance, our cookie consent preference is stored as a persistent cookie so we do not ask you the same question on every visit. Google Analytics cookies typically expire after 13 months.

5. Your Cookie Preferences

Use the controls below to adjust which types of cookies you allow on our site. Essential cookies cannot be turned off because they are needed for the website to function. Your preferences are saved to your browser and will be remembered on future visits.

6. Managing Cookies in Your Browser

In addition to the controls above, you can manage cookies directly through your browser settings. Each browser handles this slightly differently — expand the section for your browser below for a quick guide.

Open Chrome and click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner. Go to Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data. From here you can block third-party cookies, clear existing cookies, or add specific sites to an allow or block list. You can also type chrome://settings/cookies into the address bar for direct access.

Click the hamburger menu in the top-right corner and select Settings → Privacy & Security. Under the Enhanced Tracking Protection section, you can choose Standard, Strict, or Custom levels. The Custom option lets you select exactly which cookie types to block. You can also clear cookies from the same panel by scrolling down to Cookies and Site Data.

On macOS, open Safari and go to Safari → Settings → Privacy. You can enable "Prevent cross-site tracking" and choose to block all cookies. To manage stored cookies, click Manage Website Data where you can remove cookies from individual sites or clear everything. On iOS, go to Settings → Safari → Privacy & Security for similar controls.

Click the three-dot menu and select Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data. You can block third-party cookies, see all stored cookies, and add exceptions. Edge also offers tracking prevention levels (Basic, Balanced, Strict) under Settings → Privacy, search, and services.

On mobile devices, cookie settings are usually found within the browser app's settings menu. The steps are similar to the desktop versions described above, though the menu layout may differ slightly.

7. Your Rights and Control

You are in control of the cookies stored on your device. Here is what you can do at any time:

Withdraw consent — return to this page and update your preferences, or use your browser settings to clear cookies from our site.

Access information — you can request details about what data our cookies collect by contacting us at [email protected].

Understand the impact — disabling certain cookies may affect your experience. Essential cookies cannot be turned off without breaking core functionality. Disabling analytics cookies means we cannot learn how to improve the site for you. Disabling marketing cookies means advertisements you see elsewhere may be less relevant.

If you have concerns about how we use cookies or handle your data, you may also refer to our Privacy Policy for broader information on data protection, or contact us directly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time — for instance, when we add new third-party tools or when regulations change. When we make meaningful updates, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check back periodically so you are aware of any changes to how we use cookies.
